French Process Zinc Oxide grades are differentiated by surface area or particle size.
GHC manufactures four basic grades of zinc oxide based on surface area:
Each basic grade can be manufactured to contain an added propionic acid component for aided dispersion. These grades are identified with a “0” at the end, thus CR-30, CR-40, CR-410 and CR-420.
Each basic grade can also be manufactured in a granulated or pelletized form for improved flow characteristics as well as lower dusting. GHC can manufacture each grade in a soft, normal and hard pellet. Granulated grades are identified as CR-4 GS (soft granule), CR-4 G (normal granule) and CR-4 GH (hard granule).
Finally, each basic grade can be manufactured and further purified to conform to pharmaceutical and food specifications per the US Pharmacopeia (USP), the Food and Chemical Codex (FCC), British Pharmacopeia (BP), European Pharmacopeia (EP) and Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP). Please refer to our Pharmaceutical & Food section for more specific details about these grades.
Please use the Contact section to request technical data sheets for acid treated, granulated, USP and FCC grades.
Fertilizer and animal feed grades are manufactured and sold by GHC’s sister company Microzinc Products, whose facility is located adjacent to the GHC facility in Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada. Microzinc Products sources zinc residues, skimmings and drosses in order to manufacture its fertilizer and feed zinc oxides. Please contact Microzinc for more information.
GHC is the manufacturer of IRM 91 (ASTM) zinc oxide reference material for the world’s rubber compounding industry. We can arrange to ship any quantity required around the world. The IRM 91 zinc oxide is packaged in standard quantities of 250 and 500 grams, as well as 10 kilograms.
